TLC-CCS PROFESSORS WON 1ST PLACE IN NATIONAL HACKATHON



Team JRE composed of Jade Espinar, Ramoncito Dealca, and Edmar Sanchez of the College of Computer Studies, won 1st place at the Philippine National Police Information Technology Management Service (PNP ITMS) Hackathon 2021 for its 56th founding anniversary celebration. Sir Jade, Sir Koyz, and Sir Edmar are alumni and current professors of the college.

The virtual hackathon, live pitching, and awarding were held via Zoom on October 12-13, 2021. Forty (40) teams participated in the event composed of students, professors, and IT professionals from Luzon regions, Visayas, and Mindanao. This competition allows everyone in the IT community to share ideas on how the PNP can use ICT in providing a Secured, Mobile, AI-driven, Real-time, Technology (S.M.A.R.T) Information system. Team JRE presented a web and mobile application for a multi-level parking facility using QR code and optical character recognition (OCR) technologies.

The competition was sponsored by ITMS Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development, Workcentric Solutions Consulting Inc., Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund, Inc, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Agilex Security Agency, Inc, Telectronic Systems Incorporated, TechED Global Academy, He-Max Industrial Corporation, TrustTrade and PLDT Enterprise.
