Financial Assistance for Private Education (FAPE)

FAPE is a government program designed to ease up the overflow of enrolment in most public high schools. Under this program, the government gives an amount of 8,500 pesos as financial aid to students who are enrolling in the private schools. Most private high schools impose a higher amount of tuition fee than the government aid; and so parents shoulder the payment of any excess amount beyond what the government subsidizes. To avail of FAPE tuition fee assistance, an enrolling student should present a certificate of tax exemption from the BIR Office. Further, the TLC also accepts first year high school students who are recipients of the Educational Voucher System (EVS). Public school grade six students can apply for grants with their own school principal.

Senior High School Voucher Program (under GASTPE)

The Senior High School Voucher Program is intended for Grade 10 (Junior High School) completers who wish to pursue Senior High School (SHS) education in Private High Schools, such as The Lewis College, starting SY 2016-2017. Through the Voucher Program, students and their families are able to exercise greater choice in deciding the Senior High School program that is most relevant to their needs and career goals. The voucher enables students to claim a “discount” or a deduction from the cost of tuition and other fees. The voucher subsidy is not given to students directly in the form of cash but will be disbursed by DepEd to the private school where he or she enrolls.
